WBC/WBA super middleweight titlist Andre Ward is the bearer of bad news.

Ward (20-0, 13 KOs) was slated to meet Carl Froch (28-1, 20 KOs) on Oct. 29 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City in Showtime’s Super Six World Boxing Classic Final. But due to a cut he suffered a cut above his right eyebrow while sparring last night, the fight has been postponed.

“Bad news,” tweeted Ward. “I sustained a cut in sparring a few hours ago. Flew to [Los Angeles] to see the Doc. I got 7 stitches. I will let you know the new date soon.”

Ward’s promoter Dan Goossen called it a “fluke cut,” which it must have been if Ward was wearing head gear.

Goossen told ESPN.com that “It was a clean, straight cut, which is good. It heals much better and faster that way rather than it being a jagged one. No nerves or any other part of the eye was affected.”

Eddie Hearn, Froch’s promoter, was none too happy at the postponement. He told Sky Sports, “All we can go on is the news given by Andre Ward, and he was very unprofessional to do so in that manner.

“If we’re told the fight is postponed then there’s not a lot we can do. I know that Showtime will make sure fans see the evidence. Cuts can happen. It’s unusual that cuts that size happen in sparring and it’s unusual to be sparring that late at night.”

Hearn should brace himself for more bad news. His fighter Darren Barker is fighting Sergio Martinez next weekend.

I believe Andre Ward may be the best pound for pound fighter out there. He is indeed better than Manny or Floyd. oh, Cory Spinks, he is a bum.

Ward I hope your cut heals soon!  Was awaiting to see the fight between you and Froch.  I think it will be a great fight.  We are all wondering if you would defeat Froch.  Get well soon and God bless.
